Hi.
I took my Eco out to the park yesterday for its first real flight. Real in the since that I am pretty proficent hovering in my garage and I wanted some more room. Boy, was it fun! I had all sorts of room, even went into a fast forward flight and managed to bring it back and land. Thanks. -ben |

You can get different tail gears to speed up the tail response. I haven't tried this but would imagine a big difference owing to how the bird responds when overall rotor speeds fall under 1350 RPM.

3Dben,
Make sure the pitch slider moves all the way until it is within 0.015in of the shaft bearing support housing (doesn't touch any static structure). If it doesn't then adjust the length of the push/pull rod. You may want to fine tune with the ATV settings. Another problem can be the looseness of the z-bend in the hole of the pitch arm. I recommend you cut the z-bend of and adapt to a nylon clevis which fits (snaps) snugly in the hole(s) in the pitch arm thus eliminating excess play. this will give you more effective pitch movement in both directions. I also changed to slightly larger 80mm x 4mm MS Composit CF blades with the stock 40T gear. These gives more authority but also sucks more power. Getting the rotor RPM up is also good since it reduces the torque the tail rotor has to counteract. The stock brushed motor is not powerful enough to get the rotor much above 1300. Modified motor or a brushless system is necessary to get more head speed. I have given up on brushed motors, they are more expensive and more hassle in the long run. Hope I was some help. |

FYI. All I needed to do was slide the tail rotor shaft further towards the blades. I noticed on mine that the shaft was sticking out of the left side a bit, so I slid the shaft just so the end was slighly inside the bearing. This gave me the extra pitch I needed. I also think my rotor speed is too slow, I am going to adjust this and see how it respondes.
