Greetings!
Has anyone tried using a Jeti Phasor brushless motor in the ECO8? Which one? I´m planning to use 10 cells and are looking for duration. Regards // Fredrik Wergeland Sweden |

Hi Fredrik,
I'm using the Phasor brushless (30/3) with the Jeti 40-3P controller. I have been very happy with this setup. Currently I have all the aluminum upgrades and CF symm blades, CF frames, CF tail boom and heavier landing gear from a 30 size shuttle. I'm using 10 2400 cells. Using the BEC (no receiver battery pack) and with all that I get about 8 min flights. There's lot's of power. I could propably run at a slower speed for more time. The only thing I wish I had was a governer. There are some controllers with built in governer. Would it be worth it??? Again I have been very happy!! |

Thank you, but what pinion are you using?
And what is a "governer"?? // Fredrik Wergeland |

I'm using a phasor 15/4 in my ECO 8 with Kontronic Smile 40-6-12 ESC on 10 cells, Sanyo 3000 NiMH.
I regularly measure just over 10 minute hovers (I'm still doing hover practice). I understand that gentle flight uses less current than hover as the rotor blades are more efficient through moving air, so I expect slightly longer duration for forward flight. The 15/4 gets hot after my 10 minute hover, but not as hot as my cheap brushed motor used to get. I use my Kontronic in heli mode which has a governor function. The throttle % on your TX sets the RPM of the motor. As long as your setup allows, the governor then holds the same motor/rotor RPM for changes in collective pitch, so you don't need to set up a throttle curve on the TX. Richard. |

Oops, forgot to mention the other important bits.
I'm using a 17T pinion with this motor, and I'm setting the governor to a rotor speed of 1400RPM (checked with tacho). My setup can hold this rotor speed over 0 to +9 degrees pitch angle. I'm using MS CF blades. Cheers, Richard. |

My pinion is a 24tooth. At a six foot hover (out of ground effect) my head speed is 1650. Yeah, a little fast. It makes controlling it very interesting. I have had guys that regularly fly 60 size 40, and even smaller 30 have a difficult time flying it (too well) because it manuevers so quickly. Just for fun I tried a 12 cell pack once. I would estimate the head speed to have been about 1800!! Sounded so cool but it was too overwhelming. That and my gyro was freaking out for some reason.

Hi there,
I am useing the jeti 15-3 motor with 13 tooth pinion and the 40-3 controller on 8 2400 mah cells. This set up has worked very well for me and I get about 12 minute hovers out of ground effect. I want to try 10 cells cause thats what everyone else uses, but my charger only goes up to 8. With this setup my chopper has plenty of power, and will lift about one pound with plent of power to spare. I usally fly it now with my camera pod that weighs 10 ounces, and the chopper flies great! Aerobatics is going to be the next thing I try here in the near future. You can check out the rest of my setup at my web page: http://jackosbrady.tripod.com Jack. |

Hey Jack Brady, Just went to your site and saw your arial pictures... Wayyyyy too COOL!!! I'm very impressed. Once I regain confidence in my Eco8 (Have had lot's of glitching and gyro glitching, but did find a loose servo connector) I want to do something like you've done!!!
